ANTI-CONDENSATION HEATING TAPE
For Electrical Motor
 

Application: Anti-condensation motor (ACM) heating tape prevents condensation in rotating electrical equipment. Applications include off shore, shipboard and marine equipment, dockside cranes, well pumps and all equipment operating in a tropical environment. Specifying anti-condensation heaters at the design stage can save the expense of costly rewinds and down times.

 

     

  Installation: The heating unit is designed for inclusion in the impregnation process. The OEM or the Re-winder fits the selected ACM heating tape to the end turns of the motor stator pack by lacing or by use of suitable adhesive insulation tape applied longitudinally over the full length and with of the heater prior to varnish impregnation process. If lacing is employed care must be taken to allow for the shrinkage of the lacing material during the impregnation process. A motor heater should fit around the stator pack, covering at least 70 % of the circumference. A separate terminal block is provided for the heater unit. A changeover contact is wired to energize the heater when the motor is de-energized.

PTC thermistors act as thermal protection for electrical machines, and are well known particularly as motor-protectors. They are available with insulating sleeve and have flexible connecting leads. PTC thermistors have a non-linear resistance/temperature response, and at a specified temperature the resistance changes rapidly to a very high value.
